Tottenham Hotspur have officially moved into their new purpose built training facility in Enfield with Andre Villas Boas conducting his first ever training session at the new centre today. The new home for Spurs training sessions has been dubbed ‘Hotspur Way’ and features 11 football pitches with under soil heating providing year round training facilities. The two story building complex houses a swimming pool, fitness centre, changing rooms, canteen and media centre. It is believed the modern facilities can now rival those currently at place with London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea and reportedly cost the club £45 million.
"Today, I have a status - I have the France captain's armband. It is a mark of trust and respect, there are a lot of things for me to prove over there. I am going to strive for success."I am going to discover another world, another championship and another mentality. I am going to get to know my new team-mates and staff, and I am going to work as well as I can."
The words of Hugo Lloris after much speculation about his unhappiness at being proclaimed the number two for his new club should fill the fans with pleasure as the Frenchman seems determined to earn a first team position with impressive displays in the Tottenham goal. He faces competition for the sport from 41 year old Brad Friedel who is intent on keeping his number 1 spot in the team.
Joao Moutinho has announced he was 'flattered' by the interest received from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Porto midfielder was also full of praise for Andre Villas Boas as he stated he considered his fellow countryman as one of the best in the world at the moment. He feels Tottenham are lucky to have him but he refused to be drawn on a potential move to the Premier League in the near future, instead he is trying to focus on his career at current club Porto as they chase the Portuguese title and Champions League success.
David Bentley has criticised both Spurs and Harry Redknapp for his treatment at the club in recent seasons. The midfielder is on loan in Russia with FC Rostov. He said Redknapp never forgave him for the moment he poured a bucket of water of his head in a live interview after the club achieved Champions League qualification, adding "I never got a look in after that."
Tottenham’s youngsters continue their NextGen campaign tonight with a mouth-watering tie against Barcelona. The Catalan boys from La Masia hope to emulate stars such as Messi, Fabregas and Iniesta one day but will face Spurs at White Hart Lane tonight in one of the hottest anticipated games of the competition. The game is live on television, a first for the competition, and a record attendance for a game of this type is expected at The Lane.
