NFL: Week Two Predictions

posted: 9 months ago

Drew Brees

We saw Green Bay get back to winning ways defeating the Bears last night in the NFC North, how will the rest of this week's NFL games pan out?

Doesn’t it seem like the Giants vs Cowboys game was weeks ago? Well for me this week has really dragged along and has felt like week two has been a long time coming.

Now that we roll into week two we should expect teams to have finished dusting themselves down from what would have been a rusty start for some and begin to show their true colours.

Bears 10 v Packers 23

Last night we saw the Packers coming off the back of a home defeat to the 49ers and although they picked up the points it was a pretty game. Bears fans sorry but you guys sucked last night! More specifically at the centre of the home teams downfall was their QB Jay Cutler who threw a huge 4 interceptions and was sacked a huge 7 times!

One to watch…Aaron Rodgers two picks in two games. Ah who am I kidding he is still going to be a beast this year!

Now onto the predictions...

Sun 16th

Chiefs v Bills

The Bills have just come away from a huge defeat at the not so impressive New York Jets and have lost their starting RB Fred Jackson. I like Kansas City for this one.

Ravens v Eagles

Last week the Eagles were anything but impressive with Michael Vick throwing 4 picks and just scraped past an average Browns side 17-16. The Ravens however looked like a force to be reckoned with this year. I expect to see the same form from Flacco and co as last week as they pick up this win on the road.

Browns v Bengals

Well this gets my toilet game of the week award! The Bengals will take this one and I expect Green-Ellis to be the deciding factor. Fantasy owners out there if you need a D this week I would definitely look at picking up the Bengals…

Saints v Panthers

New Orleans were surprised last week with the emergence of an outstanding rookie QB, can last years stand out rookie QB do the same again this week? I would expect Cam to improve on his disappointing numbers from last week however so should Brees, he wont be happy with the two picks he threw last week. I expect the Saints to get their season started at home with a win.

Texans v Jaguars

Texans are one of my favourite teams to reach the Super Bowl this year and I don’t think the Jags will be damaging their hopes this weekend. Expect big runs from Foster and some big catches from Andre Johnson- this one could be a blow out.

Vikings v Colts

This could turn into another high scoring match up. With AP looking like he is back and ready to rock after picking up two TD’s last week and Andrew Luck looking like he has slotted nicely into this Colts offence I am expecting a high but close scoring game. Advantage home side.

Raiders v Dolphins

Is this going to be another season of misery for Dolphins fans? I am still not sure. Tannehill did not get off to the best of starts last week in his home debut but he does need time, one positive to take is he was able to spread the ball around nicely with 5 receivers picking up 20 yards or more. I am giving this to the home team, Palmer's experience and offensive weapons give them the edge.

Cardinals v Patriots

Whilst the Cardinals surprised all of us last week with a big win over Seattle I cant see them causing another upset against the mighty New England Patriots. Brady and his boys should pick up this win on the road.

Buccaneers v Giants

The Giants looked pretty out of sorts in this season’s opener against the Cowboys whilst the Bucs looked like they could be starting something down in Florida with rookie RB Doug Martin making an impressive debut. That being said I fancy the Giants to get their season started on the road this week and for Cruz to pick up on his dropped catches from last week.

Cowboys v Seahawks

It looks like this could be the year that Tony Romo kicks the critics and takes the Cowboys to the post season and beyond, that is if last week is anything to go by. Don’t expect the same kind of production from unknown quantity Kevin Ogletree but do expect points from this Cowboys offense primarily in the hands of Demarco Murray. You can see where I am going with this…Cowboys win.

Redskins v Rams

One of top fantasy picks for this week (not just because he is my QB, honest!) is set to dominate the show again this weekend. The Redskins have started this season with a bang and seem to be proving that they will heat up what is already a tough NFC East. Sorry Rams fans even after your brave performance against the Lions last week I am going with the Skins.

Jets v Steelers

Jets fans don’t get too carried away last weeks outing against the Bills was an anomaly that no one would have expected. Expect Big Ben and his men to come out fighting after their home defeat to the Broncos and pick up this win.

Titans v Chargers

The big news from Tennessee last week was the none event from Chris Johnson for the Titans to have a chance in this one Johnson needs to step it up. As for the Chargers, last week's win at Oakland could have been greater had Antonio Gates not dropped an easy catch in the end zone. Chargers to go 2-0.

Lions v 49ers

49ers fans must have been looking at their opening two weeks thinking if we can go into week three against the Vikings 1-1 that’s just fine. Instead they now have themselves in a position where realistically they could go 2-0 against a rusty Matt Stafford Lions team. The Lions do have home advantage but something tells me this could be San Fran’s day. 49ers to win this by a TD.

Mon 17th

Broncos v Falcons

Will the Manning revolution continue or will the Falcons charge to be Super Bowl contenders pick up momentum? It has to be said that Peyton looked good in his first game back in the NFL and Broncos fan or not you have to be happy about that. Standing in his way now will be a Falcons team that put up some big numbers in their week 1 outing; Matt Ryan 299 yards 3 TDs and Julio Jones 108 yards 2 TDs stand out from the crowd. This is my match up of the week and the victory goes to the Atlanta Falcons.

My record…

Week 1-  Correct 9, Incorrect 7 (ouch). Now let’s hear your predictions…
