4. 1961- UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold is killed in an air crash

5. 1964 - The first episode of the The Addams Family is broadcast in the US

6. 1970 - Rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix dies after collapsing at a party in London

7. 1971 - Lance Armstrong is born

8. 1973 - Future President Jimmy Carter files a report with the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP), claiming he had seen an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) 

9. 1987 - Fatal Attraction starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, opens in cinemas

10. 1999 - Sammy Sosa becomes the first player in major league baseball history to hit 60 homers in two seasons

11. 2004 - Britney Spears marries Kevin Federline
