It was a night to remember if you were a Manchester City fan, regardless of the result. They put in an admirable performance, and looked to have Real Madrid beaten after Aleksandr Kolarov put them 2-1 up.
Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo scored two late goals to give Real Madrid a 3-2 win, and send Jose Mourinho sliding in his suit onto the Bernabeu pitch.
Meanwhile sitting in his lounge, resting up from injury, a certain Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could not help rubbing it in on Twitter, even if he would prefer to dress it up as simply 'praising Madrid'.
Here is what he had to say, and a look at how a Manchester City fan responded...
Only 1 man was gonna score the winner. Great game enjoyed it.

It isn't the first time Rooney has revelled in a defeat for Manchester City players, he caused controversy on Twitter in February when he mocked the Toure brothers following the Ivory Coast's shock loss to Zambia in the African Nations Cup Final.
Manchester City fans did not take well to his comments this time around either, as this Tweet shows...
"@waynerooney: #vivaronaldo" You vile, odious, granny shagging, fat, bald, cheating, classless, waste of space. I hope you explode.
