Last night was perhaps Jonjo Shelvey's greatest moment in a Liverpool shirt to date, stepping up to the plate and showing the even younger members of the club's experimental Europa League side how it is done, by scoring a brace to secure victory in a pulsating eight-goal thriller.
Here's a look at what some of the club's fans were saying about him on Twitter...
@mostarLFC: Can you believe that Jonjo Shelvey is only 20 and we paid less than £2m to sign him #GreatFuture #LFC
@dowdello: Jonjo shelvey cost £1.7 million... cheers Rafa
@thetotallfc: Jonjo Shelvey is going to be a some player for Liverpool. Talented and fearless !
@bunnibabebecky: I don't think we've missed out on Sigurdsson Shelvey is better
@L4zyT: Joe Allen, Gerrard and Shelvey should start against the Manc on Sunday. #LFC
@rob_de_red: Shelvey really stepped up tonight. Showed he belongs in the first team. Delighted for him #LFC
@ladtheo10: Quality performance by Jonjo Shelvey, turned the game around #A
@clivemorin: Jonjo Shelvey is turning into some player!
@benny_barrel: It's a huge shame that Rafa won't be credited should our youngsters make names for themselves. Suso, Sterling, Shelvey all Rafa signings.
And the player himself...
Buzzing!! Great 3 points away from home .. Time to fly home .. And get ready for Sunday !
