With the Premier League back in full swing, let's take a look at some of the most important players approaching a return from injury.
Wayne Rooney - Little needs to be said about this man. How he will link up with Robin van Persie will be intriguing, but there's no doubt he will be an integral part to whatever success Manchester United achieve this season. Ferguson has suggested Rooney could be back within a week or so.
Jack Wilshere - Now back in full training, the young England star is on the verge of his long-awaited comeback. On his day Wilshere is amongst the very best in the league. With Arsenal starting strongly, his return may provide further impetus in a title challenge.
Andy Carroll - So influential in his first game for West Ham, Carroll will be cursing his luck that an injury has put him out since. He fits perfectly into Allardyce's team, and should be a real force this year in the league. Unless Carroll is unexpectedly recalled to parent club Liverpool in January, his presence will be crucial in keeping West Ham clear of the drop zone.
Scott Parker - As Sandro and Dembele are apparently putting down roots in the Spurs centre midfield, it may be difficult to see how Scott Parker will slot back into the team. However with Villas-Boas keen to mount a challenge in the Europa League, there will be plenty of opportunities for first team football. Once Parker starts playing macthes again, his talents will be readily apparent and he will bring experience and leadership to the Spurs midifeld.
Marko Marin - Yet to feature in a competitive match for Chelsea, the skilful winger will bring a different element to Chelsea's line up. More adept at taking on opponents round the outside and swinging in crosses than Hazard or Mata, he may be key in unlocking stubborn defences. Compeititon for place in Chelsea's attacking midfield is clearly high, but the German might end up being important either starting matches, or coming on to terrorise tried defences in the last twenty minutes.
Sergio Aguero - On the brink of a return to the Manchester City line up, the Argentine's importance cannot be overstated. he's already provided one moment that will live in City's history forever, he'll need to reproduce last years form if the blue half of Manchester are going to retain their league title.
