He has been fined £220,000 and banned for four matches for the offence which took place in the QPR v Chelsea match almost a year ago.
Terry had been acquitted by a court of a racially aggravated public order offence in July.
Ahead of the hearing this week, Terry quit international football, claiming the FA had made carrying on with England untenable.
He has 14 days to appeal, until he does, or elects not to, he is free to continue playing for Chelsea, and then the ban will begin.
