Charlotte Bobcats
Placing last season: 7-59 (15th in Eastern Conference)
Key moves: This is a team as desperate for change as any in the history of the game. Despite their NBA-worst record, the Bobcats only had the second pick in the draft by virtue of the lottery and therefore missed out on can’t-miss prospect Anthony Davis.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, their pick, will be a brilliant player and represents very little risk as a draft pick, but has he got that X-factor that could take him to the next level?
Challenges ahead: In terms of roster moves, the worst team in the NBA did little to improve itself outside of the draft. The Bobcats are very unlikely to be found anywhere but at the basement of the Eastern Conference by the end of the season, once again challenging for the first pick in the 2013 draft.
Reason to be positive: This is essentially a team that going forward will revolve around Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and therefore the Bobcats will be eager to see how their future star player evolves.
They’re not going to be winning a lot of games this year but if Kidd-Gilchrist can prove himself to keep them in games and excel within them, then the Bobcats can look to build further in the next few years.
Prediction: 17-65 (15th in Eastern Conference)
