'They probably have the best fans in the world!' - Twitter reaction to Dortmund's travelling support

Borussia Dortmund Meisterfeier Fan

As Manchester City toiled on the pitch it was at times hard to see who the away side was as Borussia Dortmund's passionate fans created a magnificent atmosphere at The Etihad, an atmosphere that has received respect from journalists, neutral's and Manchester City fans alike.

It has always been an argument that English fans are the best in the world, but our eternal footballing enemies certainly did put their hat in the ring last night as Borussia Dortmund’s travelling army almost blew the roof off The Etihad.

While Manchester City’s supporters are a well-known breed, and extremely passionate about their club, they have never been afraid to show respect to great foreign support, the adaptation of ‘The Poznan’ is testament to that fact.

There is little doubt the cacophony of noise from the travelling BVB Army absolutely deserved respect, which it did on Twitter.

Henry Winter ‏@henrywinter #bvb fans terrific. drums, rhythmic clapping, singing, banners, loads ofyellow. great support

Ben Corrie ‏@bigbencorrie @BVB your fans were brilliant last night. I look forward to the return gamein December!

Kristian Walker ‏@Krisp00 Borussia Dortmund fans are incredible. #LikeWoah

Craig Millen ‏@CraigMillen Wow. The Borussia Dortmund fans are probably the best fans in theworld!

Fintan O'Toole ‏@fotoole13 Borussia Dortmund have top, top football fans.

The Dortmund fans received recent praise on our shores for their public show of support to Liverpool fans throughout the release of the Hillsborough reports and Justice for the 96 campaign and they have earned our respect on a completely different level now.

Here is a video of them turning a police escort into a party upon realising the acoustic benefits of this tunnel…

The support must have inspired Dortmund’s players who tore Manchester City apart at times last night and without Joe Hart in superman mode they would have gone away with a deserved victory.

Manchester City’s travelling support have a lot to live up to in December, which they will of course give their best shot as an always passionate collective follows Roberto Mancini’s side away in Europe.

One decision that has been made based on last night, I have been considering popping over to Germany for a game for a little while now, and I think that game will be at the Westfalen.

What did you make of Borussia Dortmund’s support last night, the best so far in Europe?
