He has been one of the many youngsters making a name for himself as part of Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool ‘revolution’ and the strides in which he has come in the past three months have been astronomical; signs of which can be seen in the most trivial of fashions.
A few months ago while doing some research on the Spanish starlet he certainly did not sit atop of the search results after typing those four letters in and hitting enter into your preferred search engine, instead you would be originally guided toward the Southampton University Symphony Orchestra, who as lovely as I am sure they sound, were not exactly who I was looking for.
Not any more however as the Spaniard now sits on top of the results feed. Take that Southampton University.
But on a more serious note he really has developed as a talent, a talent Liverpool fans have recognised from day one. Suso arrived at the club from Cadiz back in 2009 after Rafa Benitez convinced him it was the place to go rather than being lured by the homeland lights of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
His 100% pass ratio against Manchester United on his Premier League debut reads impressively and he has gone on from there to perform well against West Brom and setting up Luis Suarez’s hat-trick goal against Norwich this weekend gone.
At 18-years-old he is obviously a precocious talent that Liverpool must hold on to and that is why the news Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of discussing a new contract with the Spanish international must come as music to the ears of the Liverpool faithful; even if it is after just three senior first-team appearances.
While I would consider Suso as quite substantially better than Manchester United’s ex-player Paul Pogba that difference in talent should make Liverpool heed the warning the French youngster’s move to Juventus this summer provides even more.
There has been a recent revelation that Real Madrid have been in contact with Suso, a self-confessed Madrid fan, over potentially moving to the Bernabeu when his contract expires this summer.
Liverpool must show their commitment in more than words soon in order to keep one of the hottest talents in Europe as not doing so could end up with some severe wound licking in the future.
Should Liverpool hurry up and tie Suso down to a new long-term deal? Do you also want to see Raheem Sterling and Andre Wisdom rewarded in the same way?
