Radamel Falcao has once again put the Blues on red alert as he has admitted he could leave Atletico Madrid. Although he has a few years left on his contract the club may need to sell him if they cannot qualify for next year’s Champions League.
Following his stunning strike in the win over Nordsjaelland Juan Mata believes he will have to fight with David Luiz for dead ball duties in future. Mata, of course, also netted a free kick of his own this week to beat Arsenal at the Emirates.
Now Didier Drogba has left the club there could be a lot of competition over who takes the free kicks, as Frank Lampard and Eden Hazard will presumably want their fair share as well.
Despite collecting four goals and four assists since returning from his two week break, Juan Mata still believes he can improve for Chelsea, especially when playing with Hazard and Oscar. The Spaniard also proved to be gracious in victory as he praised Nordsjaelland and stated Chelsea were flattered by the 4-0 scoreline.
In other Champions League news Di Matteo is well aware of the threat posed by Shakhtar Donetsk. Chelsea’s doubler header against the Ukranian side will be crucial in determining the outcome of the group, and Donetsk were unlucky not take three points away from Juventus midweek.
With England’s matches against San Marino and Poland coming up, Ashley Cole, Gary Cahill and Frank Lampard have all been called up. John Terry’s international retirement has led to Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross being called up in his place.
Steven Gerrard has spoken of how he has no regrets for twice turning down Chelsea, despite the fact he freely admits he could have won several more medals with the London club.
Another reported Chelsea transfer target, Sergio Ramos, has seemingly resolved his rift with current manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese said he has no problems with the defender, who is expected to start in the weekend’s vital match with Barcelona.
