Laurent Koscielny is reported to have injured his knee in training for France. There are mixed accounts of whether it is serious or just a strain at present, but it is sure to worry Arsenal fans.
Bacary Sagna is determined to return stronger from his lengthy absence. The Frenchman suffered a second fractured leg in the space of a year to rule him out of Euro 2012 and this season so far but he is now ready to step-up his rehabilitation and force his way back into to the side ahead of the impressive Carl Jenkinson.
Santi Cazorla has spoken of his joy at how well his move to Arsenal has panned out. He believes the Premier League is far superior to La Liga and he is relishing the extra responsibility being laid at his door. The midfield wizard has starred in Arsenals campaign so far and believes the move is helping him develop his game.
Arsenal’s 24-year-old Italian custodian Vito Mannone has set his sights on one day playing in Italy, particulary his favourite club AC Milan. While he did not mention when he would want to achieve this goal he could move on if he is not instated as number one upon Wojciech Szczesny’s return from injury. He also hopes to one day be Italy’s number one ahead of long-term hope Salvatore Sirigu of Paris Saint-Germain.
Atletico Madrid have been forced to admit that they could sell star striker Radamel Falcao at the right price. The Colombian has recently been linked with The Gunners, after rumours mounted over a potential January war-chest being available for Arsene Wenger. Now Los Colchoneros have admitted that amid their current financial issues offloading Falcao from their wage-bill could be a serious consideration in January.
Arsenal’s favourite former stalwart and Charlie Dimmock lookalike Ray Parlour has been giving German international Lukas Podolski cockney slang lessons. The summer signing from Bayern Munich made headlines the other day when he boarded a bus in the busy city much to the surprise of the average British football fan and now he has been given some lessons, just in case anyone ever strikes up an incomprehensible conversation with him. Podolski eventually strung the sentence ‘’I hit the Albert Hall into the beans on toast’’ hmm … needs work.
Arsenal’s summer transfer target Victor Wanyama has stated he is more than happy at his current club Celtic, and has no current desire to leave for The Gunners or Manchester United. The powerful Kenyan has been linked with a move for a while now but and he dismissed the reports of Premier League interest, maintaining his desire to remain at Celtic Park.
Arsenal have signed teenage striker Chuba Akpom on a professional contract. The 17-year-old celebrated his birthday this week by scoring for Arsenal's under-21s, and is highly rated at the Emirates.
And finally Arsenal will arrange a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break in order for injured trio Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Frimpong to gain match fitness and Russian outcast Andrey Arshavin the opportunity to impress. The club they will play has not yet been announced.
