Predicting the three names in Brendan Rodgers' envelope of doom

posted: 7 months ago

Brendan Rodgers 2

The Liverpool manager will be seen conducting a bizarre experiment on the next episode of 'Being Liverpool'

To be screened this Friday, is a scene in which the manager wrote down the names of three players at the club who he felt would let the club down over the course of the season, and placed them in a sealed envelope.

Bonkers? It has been described as such in some quarters, with others labeling it as an ingenious psychological technique.

The players will now be left wondering even more than we are, if their names are in the list. And keen to show their manager through their performances on the pitch that they didn't deserve to be in there, or for next season.

It's fair to argue, if Rodgers feels a player is going to let him down, why not just sell him?

And by that token the three names could be Carroll, Adam, Spearing, who have all departed permanently or on loan. But then that would equally make his question of 'Who will let Liverpool down this season?' a little pointless.

So who do you think is in there?

And remember all three names can't be Stewart Downing.

Our prediction? There are no names in there at all, and its just a psychological trick to get his players to buck their ideas up and not let the club down.

Sir Alex Ferguson did something similar back in 1992, before at the end of the season revealing there to be no envelope at all. The club won the league that season, so something worked.

What do you think? Whose names, if any, are in the envelope of doom?
