Here is a look at 10 players the Gunners have been linked with. Which ones do you want to see sign?
Adrian Lopez
Adrian was first linked with Arsenal in the summer, and reports have claimed the 24-year-old is back on the club's agenda. Despite not scoring in nine matches so far this season, he remains highly rated, netting 19 in all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season. Part of Spain's under-21 European Championship winning squad a year ago, he led the line ably supported by Mata and Javi Martinez.
Stefan Jovetic
Fiorentina forward Jovetic is one of the most coveted young attackers in Europe. Manchester City and Chelsea are also both said to be keen on the Montenegrin, who could cost in excess of £25 million. Only 22, he is only likely to get even better. With Fiorentina currently unable to even offer Europa League football, a step to Arsenal would be a significant step up.
Fernando Llorente
Spanish striker Llorente is currently one of the most talked about stars in Europe, and best of all, he is available. His contract is up at the end of the year, but his club Athletic Bilbao want to cash in now, especially after his public falling out with Marcelo Bielsa. There will be competition, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Juventus are all hovering. So far this season he has just a solitary goal to his name.
Michel Vorm
Perhaps it may appear odd that Arsenal are interested in Swansea's Michel Vorm, given Vito Mannone's recent step up, but the Italian is yet to sign a new contract. It expires next summer and he has been linked with a move back to Italy, so Arsenal would need a new goalkeeper to compete with Wojciech Szczesny. Vorm has been consistent at Swansea since his arrival last summer, but could be willing to take the step up.
Wilfried Zaha
It is expected that Wilfried Zaha will step up from Crystal Palace this January, and speculation has been continuing this week as to his future. Liverpool and Spurs are interested, but Arsenal are said to be looking at the Ivorian in case Theo Walcott moves on. Palace want £11 million for him, a price which Arsenal could consider too much, although they did pay more for Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Falcao
It was a real shock to Arsenal fans when Falcao was linked with a move to Arsenal last week, and it still remains more likely that bigger spenders Chelsea and Manchester City will move for the Colombian. Still if Wenger really wants to make an impact, and sign the best, then freescoring Falcao would be worth every single penny.
Dusan Basta
Versatile Udinese star Basta has been linked with a switch to Arsenal, as cover in midfield, and at right-back to support Carl Jenkinson if Bacary Sagna is sold. The 28-year-old Serb is as good going forward as he is defending, scoring an excellent goal against Siena last month, also providing an assist in the 2-2 draw.
Sime Vrsaljko
Croatian defender Vrsaljko is another right-back who has been touted for a move to the Emirates. The 20-year-old currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb, and is already a full international. He is highly regarded in his homeland, and was linked with Manchester City prior to their signing of Maicon. Inter Milan are said to be interested, and even if he is not a name who immediately rolls off the tongue, he could still be an astute signing.
Waris Majeed
Majeed is one of the most discussed young players in Europe at present, scoring 22 goals in 23 games for Swedish side BK Hacken this season. The Ghanaian has been linked with Porto, Chelsea, and Everton, but his international coach has told the 21-year-old to hold out for a move to Arsenal. He attracted headlines when he scored five goals in one match earlier this season.
Robert Lewandowski
Polish striker Lewandowski is a wanted man in England, with Manchester United and Chelsea both reported to have been chasing his signature over the last few months. It is now thought that Arsenal's new-found transfer 'war chest' will see them turn to the Dortmund striker. The 24-year-old has struck four times this season and scored four assists, and would cost in the region of £25-30 million.
