Tottenham face being without Emmanuel Adebayor in January, after Togo won their African Nations Cup qualifier against Gabon. Adebayor, who recently came out of international retirement, scored in their 2-1 second leg win.
Gareth Bale has hit back at claims he dived against Scotland. Even opponent Shaun Maloney had backed him, and Bale confirmed there was contact which led to the equalising penalty. He said: "Somebody clipped me and I went over,he clipped my leg and I couldn't stay on my feet. It was a simple penalty and it was nice to get up and slot it away."
Bale has also received backing from Wales teammate Joe Allen, while Wales manager Chris Coleman has made some comments which won't be well received at the Lane, stating that Bale is good enough to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Spurs have been linked with a swoop for Lyon full-back Michel Bastos. The Brazilian came close to a move to Fulham on deadline day, and can play in either defence or midfield. If he did sign, he would be reunited with former clubmate Hugo Lloris, who left Lyon in August.
Midfielder David Bentley has said he is glad he swapped Spurs for Russia, and is enjoying life on loan in Rostov. While his team are just 12th out of 16th in the league, he says the experience has been eye-opening, in a revealing interview made on a return visit to London during the international break.
The midfielder has also tipped Andre Villas-Boas to bring success to Spurs this season, but adds he has no idea what his own future holds when his current loan deal expires in January.
The People claim Tottenham are preparing a bid for wanted Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but are only willing to start the bidding at £8 million. Palace boss Dougie Freedman commented in midweek that he believes the Ivorian is worth £11 million, and Liverpool and Arsenal have both been linked with the starlet.
