Tottenham Hotspur reportedly didn’t complete all the business they wanted to in the summer, even if they did complete cracking deals for Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Clint Dempsey. They have been all over the transfer columns in the past seven days. So who have they been linked with?
‘The Dutch Xavi’ brings with it all sorts of intrinsic links to Total Football and tika-taka style and in fairness there is an element of truth in that wording. An excellent technical wizard, he was the catalyst in Feyenoord’s incredible Eredivisie campaign last year. Interest also persists from Serie A for the recently capped Dutch international.
The pacy German has begun to make a name for himself in the absence of Marco Reus at Borussia Monchengladbach. Not yet a fully-fledged German international but an absolutely wicked crosser of a football he brings with him all the engrained technical superiorities of a German youngster. Inter Milan are also in the hunt.
This one was a surprising name to pop up but the Valencia forward is very adept in a front-three which would favour AVB’s tactical implementation. A Brazilian international, who at 28 would seem an odd buy, has been brilliant for Valencia since arriving last season.
More famous for effectively breaking Gary Cahill’s jaw in a friendly against Belgium before Euro 2012 he is also a magnificently tricky winger with a great eye for goal. He forced Eden Hazard out of a recent Belgium international match and despite insisting he won’t leave in January a move to White Hart Lane, where he could join international team-mates Jan Vertonghen and Moussa Dembele, could prove too tempting for the 25-year-old.
Interest has stepped up from Arsenal in the Brazilian marksman which has given Spurs another link with his name in the past seven days. A pricy option but a born finisher dubbed the ‘next Ronaldo’(the chubby one not the cocky one) would add excellent firepower to Spurs’ attacking line.
Spurs along with every other top club in England are being linked with this prodigious England under-21 international. The Ivorian born forward is apparently not for sale as Palace chase promotion but given their recent brush with the taxman a profitable sale of around £10 million would be hard to turn down.
Spurs have been linked with Chelsea’s forgotten man this week along with Arsenal. The England international is pure talent but a rough diamond waiting to be shined. Could AVB see elements of former Porto striker Hulk in this gem?
Precocious talent Cristian Eriksen is a long term target of many Premier League clubs including Manchester United. The Danish youngster has been making waves at Ajax since making his teenage debut and Spurs would enjoy adding him to Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale in the wing department.
A repeat offender the Shakhtar Donetsk Samba Star was reportedly all set to move to North London before the deal fell apart. AVB is reportedly still highly interested in a player he previously engaged in transfer talks with at Porto.
A winger-come-left-back the Brazilian was all set for a move to the Middle East in the summer before troublesome financial issues hit the move. Reports in Europe believe AVB wants cover in both positions and a second raid on French club Lyon could see Bastos join Hugo Lloris at The Lane.
Would you like to see any of these ten players at White Hart Lane this January?
