Societe Generale Announces New Hire To Investment Banking Team

Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking has announced the appointment of Ian Fisher as Head of Coverage and Investment Banking for the United Kingdom.

He retains his role as Group Country Head for the United Kingdom and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, reporting to Didier Valet, CEO of Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking and Diony Lebot, CEO for Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in Western Europe and Deputy Head of the Coverage and Investment Banking division.

In his new role, effective 10 October 2012, Fisher will continue to develop Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking’s platform in the United Kingdom and to support its clients across its investment banking services including mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets as well as broader advisory services.

He replaces Fiona Paulus as Head of Coverage and Investment Banking for the United Kingdom who has left the bank to pursue other opportunities.

Biography: Ian Fisher

Fisher was appointed Group Country Officer for the United Kingdom in April 2009. He also became a member of the Group Management Committee at this time. Ian Fisher joined Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in April 1996 as Global Head of Loan Syndicate. In 2001, he was given responsibility for Global Debt Syndicate covering loans, bonds and asset-backed securities, and in 2007 he was appointed Head of Global Syndicate covering all debt and equity underwriting.

Prior to joining Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking Ian spent nine years at Citibank in London where he held senior positions in the Capital Markets division. Fisher attended Nottingham University where he studied law and gained an LLB (Hons). After spending several years in private practise, Fisher embarked on a career in banking beginning at Credit Lyonnais UK.
