It has been coming and after almost 15 months out of action 20-year-old Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere has finally played a full 90 minutes.
He managed to come through a specially arranged behind-closed-doors friendly with Chelsea unscathed and despite losing 2-0 to a side that contained John Terry the main purpose of the exercise has been a success.
Wilshere showed touches of his embedded genius and came close to scoring in the fixture and rumours have even persisted that he may be in line to feature against Norwich City this weekend.
However given the already cautious approach Arsene Wenger has taken a more sensible and viable option will likely see Wilshere back in action against Reading in the League Cup tie on October 30th.
And that was not the only positive from the fixture as Bacary Sagna also featured for 90 minutes. It was a big step in his recovery from a leg fracture but his biggest challenge might be yet to come with Carl Jenkinson likely to dig his heels in the ground for the right-back berth in Arsene Wenger’s squad.
Here are some reactions from Twitter to a seemingly imminent return for Jack Wilshere.
Stand by to drool: watch Wilshere and Cazorla play together. One-twos galore. They can be PL's Xavi and Iniesta bit.ly/U5zDHO
