The latest news from Liverpool FC over the last 24 hours.

Liverpool will leave the assessment of Pepe Reina’s injury down to the last minute to see whether he can play in the Premier League match against Reading. Reina hurt a hamstring in the warm up before Spain’s recent match against France and he was forced to sit out the match on the subs bench.

Liverpool are likely to play a five man midfield in the Premier League home game against Reading. With Fabio Borini injured, Luis Suarez is the only recognised striker at the club meaning Brendan Rodgers will have to pack the midfield with aggressive attacking players in order to support the Uruguay international.

Liverpool have been linked with Real Betis midfielder Benat Extebarria. The Spanish club have confirmed that the player could leave in January with Liverpool reportedly interested in him as a cheaper alternative to some of the names the club have been linked with. Real Betis are said to value the player at around £10 million.

Liverpool defender Jack Robinson says he wants to become a legend at the Anfield club. Robinson has been blended into the first team by Brendan Rodgers and has been playing consistently in all forms of competition for the club. The 19-year-old left back is currently keeping Spanish defender Jose Enrique out of the line up.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he is determined to drive England forward in their next round of qualifiers. The Liverpool maestro played in the 1-1 draw away in Poland and says that every single player needs to be ready and determined when England meet surprise package Montenegro next year.

PSV Eindhoven striker Jurgen Locadia is reportedly on a list of teenage strikers that the club are tracking. Liverpool have a well known shortage of strikers and may be looking to invest in youth when the January transfer window opens. The 18-year-old made his debut for the Dutch club last month and would be a fraction of the price of an established European front man.

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has revealed that a European Grant of £8.2 million will not have to be paid back if Liverpool help to regenerate the area surrounding Stanley Park. Liverpool recently announced plans to redevelop Anfield at Stanley Park and the cash will not have to be paid back if it is used to help communal areas.

Liverpool’s Head of Performance Glen Driscoll says Brendan Rodgers is the best manager he has ever worked with. Driscoll was part of the Chelsea coaching team when Jose Mourinho first took over and he was also in Carlo Ancelotti’s setup before he moved to Liverpool. He has said that Rodgers is one of the most unique managers he’s ever seen.
