Highest on the list of January departures at Old Trafford is Nani – the Portuguese winger has been inconsistent in his performances for United and speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson wants rid are likely to come to fruition in the New Year.
Concerns over his performances and commitment to the club have been compounded by reports that the player is demanding upwards of £100K a week in wages to sign a contract extension.
Nani’s position at the club, however, is perhaps less tenuous than Federico Macheda’s. The 21-year-old had shown immense promise but has failed to really stake his claim over the first team.
With the arrival of Robin van Persie and the emergence of Danny Welbeck, the Italian now finds himself wasting away in the United reserves. He’ll likely make a dash for the exit door in January.
Another candidate is Bebe who, like his Italian counter-part has struggled to make his name at Old Trafford. He’s featured in just two league games for United and after suffering injuries and loss of form away on loan at Besiktas, the Portuguese forward will likely be moved on.
A controversial addition to the transfer list is Javier Hernandez who has been impressive in his performances for the Red Devils. His exit is less likely to happen in January but could still happen due to the arrival of van Persie which now sees him fourth-choice up front behind the Dutchman, Wayne Rooney, and Danny Welbeck.
I would be surprised if Chicarito left but I would be completely shocked if reports that Nemanja Vidic could leave United turned out to be true. Speculation that the Serb has interested the likes of Juventus and Barcelona are, in my mind, still unlikely to see United’s best centre-back and team captain move in January.
Still, stranger things have happened.
Who do you want to see at Old Trafford in January?
