The Danish goal-machine that is destined for the Premier League

Andreas Cornelius is firing home the goals in various forms for FC Copenhagen and after being linked with Manchester United recently it will surely be just a matter of time before he is coveted by more then the one Premier League outfit.

When it comes to goal-scoring centre forwards there is one former Manchester United star who really does know what he is talking about. Norwegian striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was nicknamed the ‘baby-faced assassin’ during his days at Old Trafford where they still sing his name from the rafters.

Last month he tipped The Red Devils to move for another Scandinavian talent in the form of Andreas Cornelius from FC Copenhagen. The Danish youngster has been in sensational form so far this campaign scoring 11 goals in 20 appearances altogether and making his first caps for the Danish national team. When you consider the striker is only 19-years-old the feats seem slightly more impressive.

What are his main attributes, well first of all there is his imposing physical assemblement for one so young. Standing a daunting 6ft 4ins tall and burly in stature he can boss around defenders far more advanced in age and experience.

Indeed Solskjaer believes he has what it takes, and the former United scout and current Molde FK manager is not bereft of knowledge on the subject:

“Yes, he’s definitely an option (for United); he has the qualities to play at the top level if he continues his development. He has speed, he has art and I think he is very good in the air. He can go as far as he possibly wants.”

Solskjaer has given you the run down on his main statistics then but one that really needs mentioning is the fella’s aerial ability. Some of the headed goals he has scored have been simply breath-taking and in many different fashions. Glancers, loopers, downward-headers or his most impressive goal so far in his career when heading a ball coming back from goal, using all the power in his neck muscles to send the ball flying into the net.

He seems the type of player that would thrive in the EPL and considering his already impressive achievements in Denmark at such a young age he will surely be a future target for Premier League clubs but don’t imagine it happening soon as he recently signed a new four-year-deal with the Danish powerhouse.

Just remember the name … Andreas Cornelius.

Have a look at some of his best hits for FCK so far…
