Sir Alex

The latest news to come out of Manchester United.

Shinji Kagawa may be out of the Premier League match with Chelsea due to a knee injury. The Japanese star had to be taken off in the Champions League match against Braga after twisting his knee. Sir Alex Ferguson has said it’s too early to tell how the injury will affect the player.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he is confused over the defensive problems of the side. United have gone behind to teams in the first 20 minutes of matches on seven occasions this season and Ferguson says he cannot pinpoint precisely what the problem is with his team.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has said that the defence needs to wake up ahead of the Premier League match at Chelsea. Evans was part of the defence which went 2-0 behind against Braga in the Champions League before the attack pulled the side through to eventually win 3-2.

Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has revealed that the club are already planning for the eventual retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferguson will be 71-years-old on New Year’s Eve with growing speculation over when he will retire. Ferguson has been at the club since 1986.

Reports in Italy suggest that Juventus are about to end speculation linking them to Manchester United winger Nani. It is thought that Juventus are looking for a high profile and prolific striker to support their front line as opposed to an attacking wide man who can play down either wing.

Manchester United shares continue to perform poorly on the New York Stock Exchange market. United were list on the SE back in August and the value of the shares has so far fallen by around 12.5% casting doubt over the sustainability of the football club as a reliable business.

Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has stated that the Glazer family will not sell their shares in the club for ‘many many’ years. Some United fans feel extremely resentful towards the Glazer family for buying United with borrowed money, effectively burdening the club with extra debt.

The agent of Manchester United target Kevin Strootman says there will be no transfer to Manchester until at least the end of the season. The play maker is considered a long term replacement for Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs with heavy speculation in the media that United are trying to sort out a deal to go through when the transfer window is open.
