The world of make believe and fairy tails is brought to life by the magic of Tim Walker's photography. Bizarre props, smoke machines and animals are just some of the things used by Walker to create his work. If you walked on set at a typical Tim Walker shoot you would be forgiven for assuming you were in the middle of a blockbuster movie, costume fitters, model makers, set designers, hair and make-up artists, fashion stylists, and painters, are just some of the talent it takes to produce a single magnificent photograph.
Amongst the photographs exhibited at Somerset House, you can get up close to some of those bizarre props used in Tim's work, including a giant doll, an aeroplane and of course some insects playing stringed instruments! This is one FREE exhibition that is worth trotting your high heels over those Somerset House cobbles for.
To coincide with the exhibition, Thames & Hudson have published Story Teller by Tim Walker featuring over 175 inspirational images, collages and snapshots from Walker’s personal archives.
