As Tottenham travel to Carrow Road tomorrow night for their Capital One Cup clash, spare a thought for promising young striker Harry Kane.
Kane was and still is one of Tottenham's more promising youngsters, hoping to make a big impression this season. Andre Villas-Boas took the decision to loan him out on deadline day.
Norwich were to the team to take him on, giving him a good chance of making a name for himself in the Premier League. So far that has been delayed, thanks to that footballer's curse; a metatarsal fracture.
He is thought to still be a fortnight off returning to training, and will likely cut a frustrated figure as he watches one set of teammates take on another tomorrow night.
Tottenham are likely to once again rotate their squad, which will mean chances for fringe players and youngsters. Emmanuel Adebayor was also due for a start, but a stomach bug appears to have cruelly ruled him out of the game.
In the last round, a potentially difficult away trip to Carlisle, Andros Townsend and Iago Falque shone in a 3-0 win.
Both will be hoping for starts again, and both featured on the bench for the visit for Southampton on Saturday. A positive showing tomorrow night will enhance their prospects of fighting their way into the starting line-up for Premier League matches.
Falque was praised by AVB after his showing in the Europa League last week, and this will be the Spaniard's latest audition to prove he has what it takes to be a succerss at Spurs.
Hugo Lloris is also set to get the nod, with Kyle Naughton and Jake Livermore also hoping for starts. With Adebayor absent a question hovers over who will start up front.
Unfortunately for Harry Kane, had he remained at Spurs, this would likely be his big chance.
Not that he should kick himself too much, when he regains fitness he can push on, and must use his frustration to inspire himself to make an impression with Norwich in the Premier League, and come back to fight for a place at Spurs next season.
