Manchester United are set to ring the changes ahead of the League Cup clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. There is speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson will go for a slightly stronger side due to being wary of the reaction following Sunday’s Premier League game. Scott Wootton is expected to start in central defence. Ferguson has said 'the squad which was in place against Newcastle will be in place again'.

Michael Carrick says the win over Chelsea last weekend will only mean something if the side can beat Arsenal this weekend. United secured a 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge and face Arsenal in the early kick-off on Saturday. Carrick says they now have a real chance to take control over the title race.

Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is being linked with a move to Old Trafford following reports in the papers. The Sunderland number one has performed well this season and would provide healthy competition to the ‘keepers already at the club. However, his agent has played down any possible move.

Manchester United look set to hold off Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for Malaga star Isco. Isco is a like for like replacement for Paul Scholes and reports suggest that United would be willing to make an opening offer of £16 million for the player. However, Malaga’s domestic and European success may make any transfer difficult.

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that Molde defender Vergard Forren is good enough to play for the Premier League giants. Forren has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Norwegian League and he would be a cut price replacement to come in and provide competition for the rest of the squad.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reacted to suggestions that Manchester United were lucky to beat Chelsea over the weekend. Ferguson says his side were due a bit of luck due to their record at Stamford Bridge and also due to the personnel problems they have been made to endure in key areas so far this season.

The manager, who was in charge of arguably the greatest Barcelona team of all time, has been heavily linked with Manchester United as a possible replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United target Sofiane Feghouli looks set to snub any possible move to Old Trafford after revealing he is looking to extend his contract at Valencia. United, along with PSG, have been linked with the play maker as they continue to search the market looking for replacements for some of the older players at the club.
