Arsene Wenger has set a Christmas deadline for Theo Walcott to sign a new contract at Arsenal. The England international returned from a chest injury to score a hat-trick in the 7-5 win over Reading in the League Cup this week. Wenger is now adamant that he does not want to lose the forward in January or the summer and wants negotiations to open up as soon as possible over a potential extension to his current deal which expires this summer.
Arsene Wenger has criticised Chelsea after they went public over their complaint over Mark Clattenburg. Wenger believes Chelsea should not have gone public with the incident considering there was ‘little proof’ that the incident occurred.
Arsenal forward Gervinho, who has had a decent season so far, faces three weeks out with an ankle injury. The 25-year-old was carried off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly during the game with QPR. He has been a regular feature in the squad this season and will be unavailable for the crunch tie with Manchester United this Saturday lunchtime.
Arsenal have missed out on one of their top young transfer targets and the club they have lost him to are a familiar foe, Barcelona. The 14-year-old trickster Giancarlo Poveda has been training with the Arsenal youth side for a couple of weeks after the Colombian left Puerto Malagueno but now it seems he will sign for the Catalan giants rather than move to North London. His family are based in Malaga and some view the move as a retaliatory blow to the prying away of Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral from La Masia last year.
Wenger is looking to move further into the German market and has appointed head scout Steve Rowley to the country. The first two names on the wanted list currently plying their trade in Germany are Schalke 04’s Lewis Holtby and Bayer Leverkusen winger Andre Schurrle.
Newcastle United transfer target Moussa Sissoko is now being linked with a move to The Emirates. The Toulouse midfielder welcomes the speculation and he reiterated his previous stance that playing in the Premier League would be a dream come true for the 23-year-old valued at £10 million by the Ligue 1 club.
Arsenal have announced that they will travel to Indonesia next summer. The club have embarked on several tours to the Far East in recent years but this will be their first visit to Indonesia since 1983.
