Here are five batsmen in the Indian squad England will have to keep quiet.
Sehwag is only two Test matches away from completing 100 matches for India. He is one of the most experienced players in the side with an average of over 50 and a highest score of over 300. He is one of the only players in the Indian team who is just as dangerous at the end of the match as he is at the start. He has a strike rate of 82 which is phenomenal in terms of Test match cricket.
Gambhir is a more measured and focused player who takes his time to build an innings at the crease. He is the perfect player to compliment someone like Sehwag at the top of the order. Gambhir has made nine centuries for India in Test matches and has an average of 44. His highest score is 206 and England will have to try and nip him out early if they don’t want to be facing big totals from India.
Sachin Tendulkar is quite simply one of the greatest players to have ever graced the game. He has played a staggering 190 Test matches and is a good bet to become one of the only ever players who will play 200 Test matches. His average is superb at 55 and very few will ever get close to his record of 51 centuries in Test match cricket. Tendulkar has shown time and time again that he will make big hundreds if he is allowed to dominate the opposition attack.
Virat Kohli is just starting his Test match career and England will see him as a weak link in the Indian middle order. He has already played ten Tests with an average of just over 40 and two centuries under his belt. Kohli plays textbook shots and builds his scores quickly. England need to think of something different when they bowl to him because he is just as good playing off the front foot as he is pulling and cutting.
Yuvraj Singh is back in the Test team and he will be under pressure to reward the faith shown in him by the selectors. He is similar to Sehwag in the respect that he can take a match away from England very quickly. His strike rate of 58 does not really tell the full story. He has made three Test hundreds so far which is not enough for a player with so much talent and flair. If he has sorted his fitness out then England will have to stay on top of him because he can support the tail well.
