Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is targeting a win away at Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. Rodgers has struggled to get Liverpool playing consistently but has said that his side will be going for all three points when the sides meet this Sunday.
Brendan Rodgers has defended his decision to make nine changes to the team which lost 1-0 away in the Europa League at Anzhi. Liverpool were seriously under strength with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez left behind to rest for the match against Chelsea this Sunday.
Liverpool will mount a serious bid to sign Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge according to fresh reports. Liverpool are actively looking for a new striker to partner Luis Suarez and Sturridge could be the man as he is not the first choice striker at the West London club.
Martin Skrtel has highlighted former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres as one of Chelsea’s main threats this weekend. Skrtel says the club would be naïve to ignore Torres by focusing on other gifted midfield players in the Chelsea side. Skrtel says he will try and mark Torres out of the game.
Liverpool midfielder Conor Coady says it was a dream to play for the club in the Europa League match against Anzhi. The 19-year-old was given his debut for the club by Brendan Rodgers who chose to leave a number of first choice players out of the side which he has been criticised for following the 1-0 defeat.
Liverpool are thought to be targeting Reading central defender Alex Pearce as a long term replacement for Jami Carragher. Liverpool are set to make a number of singings this January as they lack cover in a number of areas. Reading are expected to demand £4 million for their defender.
Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres says the club need to be at their very best to have any hope of taking anything away from Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Torres joined Chelsea at the start of 2011 and says he is determined to help the current European champions secure a win over his former employers.
Liverpool have released a documentary relating to the 600th appearance of club captain Steven Gerrard. Gerrard is one of the longest serving players in the history of the club and Liverpool have continued their documentary series after a Channel 5 production called Being Liverpool.
