Hatem Ben Arfa
He was one of the players taken off during the Europa League match with Maritimo. He has a hamstring strain but the club are currently to comment on the severity of the injury. He will not play this weekend but Alan Pardew has confirmed he is hopeful the problem is not as bad as the club first feared.
Yohan Cabaye
Cabaye is missing with a groin problem and will be very lucky to play in a Newcastle shirt before Christmas. He missed France’s recent friendly against Italy with the problem and the club confirmed earlier in the week that they expect him to be out for at least another six weeks before he can even return to training.
Papiss Cisse
Taken off after 50 minutes of the match against Maritimo with a thigh problem. The swift substitution suggested Newcastle suspected a problem and didn’t want to take any risks but the problem is being assessed and it’s uncertain at the moment how long the player is going to be out of action for. More news should emerge over the weekend.
James Perch
The versatile defender was taken off during the 1-1 draw away at Liverpool with a thigh problem. Recent reports have suggested that the damage is severe and that he won’t play again until after the New Year. Newcastle haven’t been able to pin point why the injury came up and what the problem specifically is meaning a dent in the Newcastle back four indefinitely.
Jonas Gutierrez
Picked up a hamstring problem during the recent home defeat against West Ham United. He was ruled out of action last weekend and is unlikely to return to the team this weekend. However, Pardew has confirmed that he continues to recover well from the injury and could feature in the early part of December which is good news for the club ahead of a busy winter period.
Dan Gosling is still missing with an ankle problem, Ryan Taylor is out of action for several months with a knee injury and Haris Vuckic is also out for a long spell due to knee ligament damage.
