As Chelsea failed to find the back of the net on Sunday, leaving them without a win in five league games and dropping them to fourth in the league, there may have been more than a few fans looking enviously at West Brom, who went into third courtesy of Romelu Lukaku's late goal and assist against Sunderland.
The on loan Chelsea man looked everything Torres currently isn't, bustling around the pitch with real enthusiasm, and showing extreme confidence as he scored his penalty and rattled the bar, before putting in Fortune to seal the 4-2 win at Sunderland.
Chelsea do have an option to recall the Belgian in January, but early indications seem to be suggesting he will stay at West Brom, with Chelsea going into the transfer market to buy a striker instead.
This would surely be a mistake, but it is something Chelsea have form in doing. This summer they once again sent Kevin de Bruyne out on loan, signing a plethora of players in his position instead of giving the Belgian a chance.
De Bruyne is another man Chelsea should look to recall in January if they have the option. He has been in good form for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, and you feel could be an important player at Chelsea despite the options they have in his position.
Chelsea are aware of the pressure they have placed on their first choice front four, and have looked to rotate Mata and company out of the side at times. But they have only really turned to Victor Moses to do this, with Marko Marin curiously left on the bench.
De Bruyne should not have been sent out on loan again this season, and is arguably a stronger option than Moses. With Chelsea struggling in all competitions in recent weeks, it seems ridiculous they have two talented players out on loan at other teams, especially with Lukaku on loan at a side now ahead of them in the league.
If Chelsea can get Lukaku and De Bruyne back in January they should do so. Whilst all the talk will be about bids for Falcao, Schurrle and a myriad of other expensive options, they have two players on the books already who should be challenging for first team appearances, and they should be using them.
