Only Suarez (7) had more shots on goal than Enrique (3) in the Liverpool team, while completed as many dribbles as Gareth Bale (4), higher than any other player on the pitch.
It is now the fourth game in a row he has started on the left side of attack, featuring in a more normal 4-3-3 the last three games as opposed on the left of a midfield four in the 3-4-1-2 formation deployed away to Chelsea. It was this showing which convinced Rodgers to try him in the advanced position more permanently, and he scored the following match against Wigan.
Speaking yesterday Rodgers said: "I think he has been outstanding. Further up the field he is a real threat going forward with his pace and power and you can see in the last three games how determined he is to get a goal. He has been a real plus for us and it is great to see because he has worked hard and it hasn't been easy for him.
"I am delighted for him because he is a good guy and wants to do well for this club. Every player will have a preferred position but I think he has the qualities to play the role as he is not a defensive left-back."
In a bid to reflect supporters' attitudes to Enrique's appearances in attack, we have searched out a number of fans reactions to the selection via Twitter, which can be seen below.
@nworrall1994: One major positive of the last few games is the return of form for Enrique. He may even be playing better than ever.
@lukaskopite21: Liverpool has a new signing err his name is Jose Enrique Sanchez wow great player no doubt
@pillshark73: Enrique's impressed tonight. Man in form. Him and Suarez the most likely to salvage the point.
@talkinganfield: Suárez and Enrique's understanding is immense. Absolutely immense. Who thought his best link up would be with a left back?
@dimspace: Enrique best player on the field tonight by a mile
@liam5times: Enrique my MOTM again tonight. Him and Suarez have got something going on
@kellison19: Rodgers! Please just play every players in their natural position! Its doing us no good, enrique not suited as a winger! ( Poor decision)
@larseriksson84: Enrique shouldn't be a regular starter if we want to improve. Hopefully, we can bring in a good wide forward in Jan.
@lfcmaestro23: A goal scoring inside forward to play along side Suarez & Sterling needed in Jan. Enrique not the answer. A smart LB would be good too.
@liampennington1: On the plus side Rodgers is getting the best out of Enrique. Thought he was a lost cause at the end of last season. Hopefully not just form
@deanobagio: i like enrique up front then switching when we sub. He gives everythin unlike downing. Get a quality midfielder and striker for next season
@rnevitt: Enrique did well again but lacks quality in final third to be a winger. Lack of cutting edge means if/when we concede, we're in trouble
What's your opinion? Is Enrique the answer on the left or not?
