Gael Bigirimana is a player Newcastle quietly have high hopes for, and he showed why last night with an excellent goal in a 3-0 win over Wigan.
He was a half-time replacement for Cheik Tiote who again went off injured, and the winner of last season's Championship Apprentice Award gave a small beam of hope that he can step in for the Ivorian when needed.
His emergence would be most welcome for Newcastle, because Tiote's injuries are becoming more and more regular nowadays, and the Toon need to find a solution.
Fellow youngster Samuel Ameobi paid tribute to the 19-year-old, joking about his physical likeness to Cheik Tiote by Tweeting this photo:
So happy for my boy Bigi too...great goal! twitter.com/Sammy_Ameobi/s…
