Chelsea will be without Frank Lampard for the massive tie with FC Nordsjaelland in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night… but that hasn’t stopped some fans being excited at his return to training following a month and a half out with a calf strain. Lampard picked up the injury during the Champions League loss against Shakhtar Donetsk in October but he returned to training earlier on Tuesday afternoon to make a possible comeback against Sunderland at the weekend not beyond the realms of logical thinking.
While some may now doubt the abilities of Lampard as his age catches up with him other Chelsea fans will be looking forward to seeing one of the stalwarts of their most successful era back out on the pitch after some tough times. After the sacking of Di Matteo, loss of Drogba and injury to John Terry the clubs fans have been bereft of genuine idols in recent weeks so the return of Lampard should help galvanise the disgruntled fans.
