Selling their star players has become a sad trait for Arsenal over the past decade, and fans will hope the cycle will soon break.
But the sad truth is, while the team continues to fall short in their quest for silverware, players will eventually look elsewhere to win trophies - As evidenced by the departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United in August.
Perhaps the player to stick with the club through thick and thin is Jack Wilshere. Arsenal need a player with the same sort of commitment Steven Gerrard has shown to Liverpool over the years, despite the Reds failure to win the Premier League.
Losing Wilshere would be the last straw for Arsenal fans, and we actually think the youngster will stay at Arsenal for life and go onto captain the club.
But that doesn't stop people talking, including fellow Premier League professional footballers.
In the wake of the shock defeat to Bradford City, QPR midfielder Hogan Ephraim tweeted the following:
Mr Wilshere, the Theatre Of Dreams awaits you...
— Hogan Ephraim (@HoganEphraim) December 11, 2012
It may have been just a little dig at the Gunners' expense last night, and they had to endure countless, but just the thought of seeing Wilshere in a United shirt is enough to make Arsenal fans feel sick, and is no laughing matter.
Arsenal fans may be quick to point out to Mr. Ephraim he should concentrate on himself. With QPR stuck in 20th spot without a win in the top flight, the 24-year-old is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League.
Will Wilshere be Arsenal for life? How can Arsenal ensure they never lose him?
