'The fans need to get behind the team', Arsenal's boss told journalists this morning, 'They must stop this negativity and look on the bright side. After all, it's only 8 years since we delivered'.
'Arsenal remain unbeaten since last night', said Wenger, and, despite being knocked out of the Capital One Cup, he confirmed: 'I am confident that we can still win this tournament. We have the players. We are a quality team. We have the desire. Anything is possible'.
'There is nothing between us and Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea', he continued. 'What does a few trophies matter ?'.
Wenger said that he was confident that Arsenal would go on a run, and could perhaps win back-to-matches. 'What is all this talk about not winning anything ?', Wenger said, 'Did you see those penalties against West Brom last weekend ? We won those, didn't we ?'.
'We are in good form', Wenger said, 'We take comfort that we can produce such great players - just look at how many of them now star for our rivals'.
