James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo has released the story this morning that Liverpool are practically on the verge of agreeing a deal for Tom Ince. It is believed a fee of around £4 million has been agreed with the Championship side and along with Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge both transfers will be announced within days of the Transfer Window opening in January.
It is the story of Tom Ince however that has caused the most interest on Twitter. The son of Manchester United legend Paul, the England under-21 international left Anfield just 16 months ago for a £250k compensation package to Blackpool after impressing on a loan spell with Notts County.
After an impressive stint in the Championship at Bloomfield Road his stock has risen again and at £4 million amid reported interest from fierce rivals Manchester United it would be, in the circumstances a good piece of business from the Merseysiders.
Of course some people have been very keen to point out that they are now having to spend a small fortune on a player who was once their very own but Liverpool reportedly never wanted to let Ince go; he chose to join Blackpool after the advice of his father to get first-team football lower down the leagues was heeded and in doing so it appears he has given his career a huge boost.
Now he feels the time is right to return to Anfield where he can partner up with several other young English hopefuls such as Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling as part of the Brendan Rodgers revolution.
Here is some Twitter reaction to the news…

Not understanding #LFC 's transfer policy. Tom Ince wasn't good enough so we give him to Blackpool, now we want to pay £4m to get him back?

As we have a 25% sell on clause on Tom Ince's next transfer, does that mean we get £1m cash back on our £4m purchase? #quickquid
