The source is Spanish newspaper Marca, who today reported Chelsea's planned spending spree.
New manager Rafa Benitez has a shortlist of three players to add to his attack, although perhaps perplexingly it does not mention Colombian striker Falcao.
The report states: "Rafa Benitez believes 'The Blues' still have a chance of winning the Premier League. However, he knows full well that new signings must be made for that to happen and has set his sights firmly on the three players."
Rafa is still revered among many fans at Anfield, but if he were to spend big on signing Liverpool's star man Luis Suarez, that goodwill may quickly evaporate, even though much of the ire would be directed to Liverpool's owners FSG.
Liverpool though hold all the cards here, Suarez signed a new long-term contract at Anfield in August, and are under no pressure whatsoever to sell, and the player has not given any indication of late he is unhappy.
Liverpool and Chelsea are meanwhile continuing to negotiate over Daniel Sturridge's switch to Anfield, which was said to have hit a hitch over agent fees.
