Liverpool fans react on Twitter to Raheem Sterling's contract agreement

News spread fast as the England international has finally penned a deal to keep him at the club for the next five years. Here was the reaction from Twitter

Liverpool fans you can stop sweating now. No not because of the end of the Mayan calendar but because young prodigy Raheem Sterling has officially signed a new contract. In what is a five-year-deal at the club Sterling will receive a fair wage of £30k-a-week that reflects his importance to the team but also his relative youth.

The former QPR youth team player has come on leaps and bounds at Liverpool this season under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers and has followed in the footsteps of Andre Wisdom and Suso in agreeing a new deal with his club.

This season he has become a regular in the starting line-up at Anfield and even made his international debut for England against Sweden and now to cap off what has been a sensational year he has earned himself this new deal.

Panic was starting to set in among some fans as Chelsea and Manchester United started to vulture around the young winger; but the Jamaican born starlet always maintained he would wait until he had turned 18 and then sign on the dotted line and he has proved a man of his word.

Liverpool fans were obviously delighted while others maintained his other options may have been better.
