Theo Walcott and his representatives are in renewed talks with the hierarchy at Arsenal FC over an extension to his much discussed contract. His current deal runs out at the end of the season and it appears the England international is now likely to put pen to paper on a new deal this month as the club not only meets his wage demands but has also started using him in his favoured striker position.
It is reported that these talks will be make or break with Walcott deciding whether his future lies elsewhere or at The Emirates based on the result of this latest round of negotiations with the club.
Wesley Sneijder may be available on a free transfer but Arsenal along with Chelsea will not be following up any apparent interest in the Dutchman due to his hefty wage demands. The 28-year-old reportedly wants £200k-a-week and neither club is willing to shell out such a significant amount of money on the player.
Arsenal will up their efforts to bring in Atletico Madrid front-man Adrian Lopez. The Spanish international has been on the radar of the North London club for a while now and it is now reported they have opened up formal talks with officials from Los Colchoneros over meeting a release clause in the 24-year-olds contract that is believed to be in the region of £15 million.
Despite being regularly linked with a move to Italian sides such as Roma and Napoli in the past few months it now appears that Johan Djourou could in fact be on his way to Germany with Bundesliga outfit Hannover. The club is currently trying to earn a third consecutive season in Europe and President Martin Kind believes the Swiss international could help shore up a flaky defence for the rest of the season.
Arsene Wenger has apparently ruled out two potential January transfer targets. There will be no return to the club for the legendary figure Thierry Henry as Wenger looks to buy for the long term but he is also reported to have dropped out of the running for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha leaving Manchester United as the favourites to snap up the precocious talent.
And finally Arsenal fans were given the opportunity to run the rule over a potential target in Luke Shaw as he played at left-back against them in the 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Marys last night. The talented youngster has been rumoured to be potentially following the example set by the likes of Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain and Theo Walcott by swapping the Solent for North London and fans made their opinion on the player well known in Twitter.
