First up, Warren Buffett. Not only did the Sage gift just over $3bn in Berkshire shares to charity, his company's stock price rose 17% in 2012 and comfortably beat the S&P 500.
Then there was Mark Carney, currently Governor of the Bank of Canada, but on his way to take up the top job at the Bank of England in July. Had a great 2012 and cemented his position as one of the best central bank bosses.
And Sergio Ermotti ? Maybe a surprise for this list, but the UBS CEO had a lot on his plate in 2012 (rogue traders, LIBOR problems and a major restructuring to mention just three). But Ermotti went about his business in a calm and straight-forward manner, telling it like it was and doing what needed to be done in the most respectful way possible.
Then there was Royal Bank of Scotland CEO Stephen Hester, another man who did an impossible job rather well.
But the Here Is The City 2012 Person of the Year is Jefferies CEO Richard Handler.
