Author Tamsen Garrie, whose new book The Act of Attraction is available now, believes that in business as well as life, we get what we attract. She gives us four tips for bringing more success into our world.

1. Get clear about where you’re heading

Business owners with a vision have more direction than those without and so they are more likely to set goals and create a plan of action to achieve them.

Your vision is a picture of how you want your business to be in the future and because it includes both what you want to achieve and why, it motivates you and the people in the business to take action. Visioning works because the subconscious mind does not know the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined and so when you imagine an outcome vividly in your mind, you create a neurological pathway in exactly the same way as if it’s happening for real. Because perception is reality, your thoughts, feelings and behaviour become aligned with your vision, meaning that you are more likely to achieve it.

2. Believe you’ll get there

Business owners who believe they will achieve their vision are more likely to do so. ‘Like’ attracts ‘like’, and so our beliefs, thoughts and feelings determine the reality we experience. Whether we think we can or we can’t, we are right.

However, a positive mindset is a more than thinking positively. It is a predominant mental attitude which conditions you internally for the success you want to achieve. The word ‘positive’ means to affirm and ‘mind-set’ is about attitude and intent, so to have a positive mind-set is to affirm with intent, and your positivity has real intent when it’s aligned with a vision that is based on a motivating vision.

3. Behave is if you are there

Business owners, who behave as if they are already living the success they want, create the perception that they are successful and as a result, they are more likely to attract the people, circumstances and opportunities that make that success reality.

Your behaviour plays a huge part in how other people perceive who you are and what you stand for and because perception is reality, it plays an essential role in your business success. It’s not enough to just ‘be’ the person you are when you are clear about where you are heading, you need to be ‘seen’ to be that person too. This means adopting the behaviour of the person you are when you are living your vision now, because when you are able to behave as though it has already happened, you create the feelings that go with that and you are more likely to be motivated to make it happen.

4. Plan how you will get there

Business owners who plan their business activity achieve more than those who don’t.

It has been shown time and time again that when you set goals you achieve more than when you don’t. However, a plan is more than just goal setting. A plan is a documented account of what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, how it needs to be done and by whom. It is a documented guide to achieving your business vision and so definition, it is a document that energises you and motivates you to take action.
