Areas to strengthen
Norwich could definitely use another forward to add to their attacking line-up - Grant Holt has scored just 4 goals this season, the same tally as two of their midfielders Anthony Pilkington and Robert Snodgrass but they need a more consistent and quality finisher ideally.
Whilst manager Chris Hughton claims that injures will not affect his decisions on purchases this month, first-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy is expected to be out injured for at least another couple of months so they may want to bring in more adequate cover.
Brighton's Craig Mackail-Smith was approached in the summer and Hughton looks set to re-ignite his interest in bringing the striker to Carrow Road.
The Canaries have also reportedly made a £3 million bid for Crystal Palace's Glenn Murray who has scored an astonishing 22 goals in his last 21 games.
Another option he’ll be looking to explore is Monaco hitman Ibrahima Toure who could prove to be a shrewd and effective addition up front if they can persuade him to come.
Hughton has been spotted at Celtic Park in recent weeks, reportedly monitoring Gary Hooper who could be the subject of a bid soon.
Steve Morison is the most likely candidate to be moved on but there is also the possibility that some of their younger players out on loan could make their moves permanent. The likes of Lappin, Chris Martin, Korey Smith, James Vaughan, Elliott Ward and Daniel Ayala could all be sold on or re-loaned out.
Another fringe player along with Morison is Marc Tierney who may well be offloaded elsewhere if they can find an appropriate replacement.
Hughton has minimal funds at his disposal and will probably only bring in like-for-like replacements using sale-generated income. If can shift some of his loan players permanently, a little extra income could be re-invested but not a whole lot.
Steve Morison has one foot out the door and I’d expect Mackail-Smith to be his replacement.
Other than that, I think it’ll be a quiet window and business as usual for the Canaries - the boss has ruled out signing another keeper to as cover. I wouldn't be surprised to see two or even three players go back out on loan but I suspect a number of returning players will be added to the Norwich squad to add cover and depth.
