The Rising Cost Of College Education

posted: 5 months ago

Poor Student

Fifty percent of American students can't afford a college education, and only 50% of recent graduates found full-time employment.

Frugal Dad has put together an info-graphic highlighting how college tuition in the US is growing more than twice as fast as the incomes of most families. The average family income in the United States grew 147% between 1982 and 2007, and the cost of college grew by a massive 440% over the same period of time.

Sounds pretty scary, right? Well not as scary as the fact that 85% of 2011 graduates moved back in with their parents after college as they couldn't afford a place of their own...

College Isn't Cheap

Five of the Best

Things we love, things we want, things we want to do, and things we think are just cool, interesting, or at least noteworthy.

  1. Here's a good rule to live by: If you have to ask yourself if something is OK to do, it's probably not.
  2. Classical sculptures with clothes on. They're hip and they're way cooler than us.
  3. All hail, Stevie Nicks! If you like her, you'll want to read this. (And come on, who doesn't like her?)
  4. Take a trip down memory lane, checking out the Withnail & I: The End photography exhibition from Proud Camden, which begins late June.
  5. We can't warm up to the idea that the International Herald Tribune will be renamed the International New York Times this autumn.
