Arsenal midfield target announces deal is imminent, but it's not with the Gunners

posted: 5 months ago

Emirates Stadium 3

Arsenal midfield target Lucas Biglia is unlikely to be heading to the Emirates this month.

Lucas Biglia is a name who has been linked with a transfer to the Premier League regularly over the past 12 months, but it appears he will not be heading this way.

He has been linked with Southampton, and Norwich City, but Arsenal are the side most consistently linked with his signature.

The 26-year-old Argentine is a defensive midfielder, who would have fitted the requirements for just what the club need, but it appears his move to the Gunners is off, and he will be heading to Serie A instead.

Biglia is expected to head to Inter Milan, after confirming details of the transfer last night instead.

Speaking with Italian outlet TMW, he said: "All true, Inter have asked about me and there's a deal.

"I want to leave Belgium, Inter is a dream, I am in contact with Zanetti. I hope that the deal can be done. Waiting for news."

It means the defensive midfield options for Arsenal are narrowing down. Yann M'Vila is heading to either QPR or Rubin Kazan, and Moussa Sissoko is expected to sign with Newcastle.

It would leave Mohamed Diame of West Ham and Ettien Capoue as the top targets, but barring any last minute change of heart for Biglia; he will not be heading to the Emirates.

Are you disappointed Biglia won't be coming? Who do you want Arsenal to sign?
