Five possible destinations for Arsenal misfit Arshavin

Reading boss Brian McDermott has effectively wiped out any chance of Andrey Arshavin joining Reading before the end of the January transfer window, stating that he doesn’t think the Russian would be interested in a move.

However, Arshavin does not seem to figure in Arsenal’s immediate plans which means, if he chose to, he could leave for a number of possible Premier League destinations.

QPR

QPR could be one such candidate to sign him if he wanted to leave Arsenal and Harry Redknapp would welcome him to Loftus Road with open arms.

QPR is a good possible destination because of the personal terms they could offer Arshavin. They are likely to be similar to what he’s on at Arsenal at the moment, which means he doesn’t have to take a pay cut.

Everton

Everton could be a good destination for the Russian. Everton are locked in the battle for fifth place and the only stumbling block here would be the case involved because Everton don’t have much disposable income.

Arshavin would have a virtually guaranteed place in the first team at Everton and David Moyes’ side seem to be calling out for an attacking midfield player who can come in and play in the pocket just behind a main striker.

Liverpool

Everton’s Merseyside neighbours Liverpool would undoubtedly be interested in adding Arshavin to their squad because he seems like the ideal player for the way Brendan Rodgers is trying to play football.

Arshavin is used to pass and move football having played for Arsenal. He would be ideal to sit in the Liverpool midfield and feed the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in attack.

Swansea City

Swansea City is an obvious choice for similar reasons. It’s just a case of whether Swansea want to take a gamble on him because they only seem to sign players who understand the identity and the philosophy of the club as opposed to the manager.

There is also the money option with Swansea, which could be a stumbling block if the Swans couldn’t stump up the funds for Arshavin’s pay packet, which could also cause discontent among other players.

Fulham

Fulham would be a good club for Arshavin because they need a high quality, creative midfielder to sit in the middle of their pitch. They could afford the wages and the transfer market suggests they are looking to add so it’s odd why they haven’t previously been linked with him.
