With two-thirds of all graduate jobs in 2012/13 set to go to students who have already completed work experience with the hiring firm, there has never been a better time to explore the mutual benefits of hosting a summer intern and gaining early access to top graduate talent.
City Internships – Summer Internship Program
The City Internships platform grants employers uncomplicated and costless access to undergraduate and graduate talent through its annual Summer Internship Program.
The City Internships Summer Internship Program sees undergraduate and graduate interns undertake two-month placements with host companies in London, Hong Kong & Los Angeles during the summer break.
Host companies are invited to submit their requirements to City Internships, who will then source, screen and shortlist suitable candidates for final selection by the company. City Internships then takes care of the preparation and onboarding process to ensure that interns hit the ground running.

How it Works?
City Internships’ global network of more than 7,500 academic partners – across the UK, Europe, America, Asia and Australasia – attracts the very best undergraduate and graduate talent to the Summer Internship Program and, in turn, to participating employers.
- 85% of UK candidates attend(ed) a Russell Group or Top 20 University
- 75% of US candidates attend(ed) an Ivy League or Top 20 college
- 33% are fluent in at least one additional language
In addition to offering specific knowledge, such as foreign language or subject-matter expertise, graduates possess an abundance of skills that enable them to make a positive and immediate impact. Degree disciplines include:
- 30% Accounting, Economics & Finance
- 25% Engineering, Science, Statistics & Mathematics
- 20% Business, Management & Marketing
- 15% English, History & Law
- 10% Computer Science
Previous host companies within the financial services sphere have drafted interns into a wide variety of front, middle and back-office roles to assist with projects and day–to-day tasks. Including:
- Research; Capital Markets; Sales & Trading
- Risk & Quantitative Analysis; IT & Technology
- Account Management; Marketing, Advertising & PR
- Finance; Operations; Legal & Compliance
Competition for top graduates has never been so fierce. The cost – in both money and time – of maintaining a campus presence, and attracting, screening and assessing strong graduates, is rising and becoming increasingly prohibitative for many would-be graduate employers. The City Internships Summer Program provides an innovative platform that enables employers to benefit from early access to top graduate talent, without the associated financial and administrative burden.
- 60% are penultimate year students (i.e. will be entering the job market within a year).
- 40% are new graduates or final year students (i.e. available for immediate permanent hire).
City Internships’ objective is to support the provision of quality work experience, work-related learning and increased graduate employment – for the benefit of graduates, employers and the economy.
