Some bookies out there may see the current nine point gap between Manchester United and Manchester City as a reason to start paying out on the Old Trafford side winning the league but they could be wrong.
Last Season
Last season tells us that pressure can cause even the most experienced and high quality sides to falter. United went into the last six games of the season with an eight point lead and City still won the Championship.
United are only one point ahead of that advantage and there are 13 matches to be played.
Record
City have lost fewer games than United this season with a current tally of just two. They have drawn a higher ratio of matches but it proves they have the best chance possible of going through their last 13 matches without a single defeat.
Old Trafford
City should be confident of going to Old Trafford and getting a result because they went there under more pressure last season and produced an amazing 6-1 victory. This would also give them the chance to claw back three points on their main rivals.
The Manager
Roberto Mancini has not given up hope. He said in his interview after the match yesterday that he still believes City can make back the gap. The manager translates messages to his side; if they see him as confident, they will be confident.
Champions League
City do not have to play in the Champions League which means fewer matches and less travelling. United would love to win the Champions League which means they will take some focus away from the league and City have to pounce around the time United are due to play Real Madrid.
