A lot has been made recently about the talent of young Spurs midfielder Alex Pritchard. The former West Ham United youngster has caught the eye for Spurs youth team in recent months and at the age of 19 many were starting to wonder when his first-team opportunity would come.
On Deadline Day he was farmed out on loan to Peterborough United until the end of the season to help them in their relegation battle; but that was not the only deal he agreed that day. He was also given clear demonstration by his club that he had a long-term future at the club by being offered a two-and-a-half-year contract extension at White Hart Lane.
It follows plenty of speculation surrounding the teenager’s future. Due to his excellent performance against Barcelona in the Nou Camp he was reportedly courting interest from the likes of Barca and Real Madrid in Spain but the strongest link came recently with a potential move to Liverpool.
His former coach Alex Inglethorpe made the move to Merseyside earlier in 2012 and there was considerable coverage suggesting that he could move to reunite himself with Pritchard as he fitted the bill perfectly for the future direction at Anfield.
While news of Pritchard’s new deal appears to have slipped under the radar across much of the media that was sat one point touting his move to Barca, Real and Liverpool the news has been well received on Twitter; where Pritchard himself first announced the news:

Now he is focused on a relegation battle with The Posh in the Championship and will be looking to prove himself in the face of a show of faith from his parent club. If he can find and play at the same level as he has in this seasons edition of the NextGen Series there is little doubt he could go a long way toward ensuring Championship football at London Road next season; and in doing so begin to repay the faith shown in him with news of this new Spurs deal.
