There have been reports that Rafa Benitez is already on the brink of being sacked by Chelsea after just two months in charge at Stamford Bridge. The weekend’s loss at Newcastle saw Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur move three points closer to Chelsea in the league, and Roman Abramovich may remove Benitez if he feels there is a significant risk of the club finishing outside the top four.
The man that many Chelsea fans want to see in charge is Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese manager is set to be the club’s number one target after Pep Guardiola decided to go to Bayern Munich. Mourinho might be out of a job himself soon, with Real Madrid a long way off the pace in La Liga, and perhaps set to finish third behind both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea have been dealt another injury blow as the news has come through that Petr Cech has broken a finger. The keeper has been ruled out of the Czech Republic’s match with Turkey on Wednesday, but it is not known whether he will be fit to play for Chelsea against Wigan at the weekend, with Ross Turnbull expected to deputise if Cech can’t play.
Glen Johnson has praised Ashley Cole ahead of England’s friendly with Brazil on Wednesday, which will most likely be Cole’s 100th appearance for his country. Johnson also suggested that Cole does not get the credit he deserves:
“He has been a key member of any team he has been involved with for season after season.
"Does he get the credit he deserves? Not at times, no. He's been in the set-up for such a long time, he's been a key player and consistent for many years.”
Ahead of Cole’s 100th cap, Lewis Doe takes a look at his five best performances in an England shirt.

A UEFA report indicates there are two English clubs currently set to fall foul of the regulations based on 2009-2011 figures, with Chelsea and Manchester City believed to be the two sides.
