Electronic Arts has won out against all competition to become the best videogames publisher of 2012, according to stats gathered by Metacritic.
The online reviews collector said that the company climbed from fourth place last year to beat out rivals such as Activision-Blizzard, Sega and Konami.
Highlighting Mass Effect 3 as the best title on offer, with a Metacritic rating of 93 per cent, the site also pointed to its best original title, Kingdoms of Amulur, with a rating of 81 per cent, as signs that the company has dominated the charts.
The company's average Metacritic rating of 75.2 per cent, which is the combined rating from all reviewers, and the company saw 58 per cent of all its releases receiving generally positive responses.
"Improving its average Metascore and ranking for the second straight year, EA has captured this year's #1 position, thanks in part to being the only major publisher scoring 75 or higher for its 2012 releases," commented the site.
In addition to its smash hit success Mass Effect 3, the company released another 90+ scoring title in 2012, FIFA 13, which more than offset the poor performance of titles such as Medal of Honor: Warfighter, with a score of 53 per cent.
